This week I’ve posted a review for one of my most anticipated books of 2021, started reading another, and read a book that might be a new favourite. I also started a new Monthly feature focusing on reading goals!
Early this week I finished Middlegame by Seanan McGuire, and it’s just as good as her Wayward Children books. Here’s my review.
Mid this week, I finished Heroes Die by Matthew Woodring Stover, book 1 in the Acts of Caine series. It’s an intense roller coaster of a book that is far cleverer than it has any right to be. Expect a review soon.
Post-wise, I’ve started a Monthly Reading Retrospective, where I look at all the reading goals I set for myself this year, and how well I’m doing at them. For the first month of this year, I’m doing OK!
I’ve also put out a brief review for Voice of War by Zack Argyle, and a long awaited review for The Black Coast by Mike Brooks!
I’ve picked up a new debut coming in March – The Unbroken by C.L. Clark, a book that has a setting reminiscent of the French north African colonies. So far it’s really interesting, so I look forward to seeing where it goes.
I’ve also picked up The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal, an alt history sci-fi set after an asteroid wipes out the American east. I’ve not made much progress yet, but it has a strong start.
And now, my TBR shortlist! From last week’s shortlist, I picked up The Calculating Stars.

Here’s a link to my last Weekly Roundup, if you wish to compare the two.
Let me know if there’s anything there you’d recommend!
