This week I’ve finished reading two books, wrote two reviews and picked up something new. Read on to get a roundup for the week and find out what I’m reading!
Tuesday I posted my review for the excellent Dogs of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I’ve not read a bad book by him yet, and frequent readers of the blog may recall that one of my goals is to read more from him this year. Find my review here, and look forward to more Tchaikovsky reviews in the future.
Then on Thursday came my review of The Blood Tartan by Raymond St Elmo, which I finished early this week, that you can find here. I had way more fun with this book than I was expecting, and plan to continue the series at some point.
I’m still reading The Unbroken (about 2/3 of the way through now). I’m gonna have thoughts about this one, that I hope I can articulate. I have finished The Calculating Stars, which was pretty much exactly what I expected it would be – which is not a bad thing! Expect a review of that soon.
This week I picked up The Magic of Recluse by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. I’ve not picked up a book in a series this big (23 books and counting!) in quite some time, and I’m curious to see if it’s something I stick with. I’ve heard the books do some interesting things later in the series.
And now, my TBR shortlist! From last week’s shortlist, I picked up The Magic of Recluse.

Here’s a link to my last Weekly Roundup, if you wish to compare the two. There’s been some shuffling around as my indecision takes over. I’ve found it’s harder to keep a TBR shortlist up as a mood-reader when I have several books on the go at once, as I may encounter similar plot points in the stories I’m reading and need to rejig things on the fly.
Let me know if there’s anything there you’d recommend!
