This week I’ve finished two books and started one more. I also put up two (late) blog posts. Read on to find out more.
This Week’s Reading:
Firstly this week I finished The Second Rebel by Linden A. Lewis. The last third did a lot of work to redeem it in my eyes, and ultimately I’ve come out pretty positive on it, although I do think the first book was better.
After that I picked up and finished Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, and loved every second of it. Mechas, a unique and interesting setting, a protagonist ready to bring down the patriarchy, revenge, twists! This book isn’t out for another month, but I advise checking it out as soon as you can!
I also read some more of The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones. Jones does a great job of racketing up the tension, and I’m really curious as to how things are going to go. I definitely have to be in the right mood for this one (and not read it right before I try to sleep)!
Finally, I started the imposing Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson, a 900+ page tome about cryptography and secrets in a split narrative between the late nineties and WW2. This book is going to take me quite some time to read, as apart from being a very long book, the writing style is packed with detail that slows me down a bit.
I may or may not be doing some SPFBO reading also.
This Week’s Posts:
Wednesday: Book Review: Devices and Desires – I was a little disappointed with this book, but probably should have seen it coming.
Friday: Sequel Reviews: Exodus of Gnomes and Charmcaster – These two reviews are quick bites, so I’ve bundled them up together!
Next Week’s Posts:
Hopefully I’ll have finished my The Second Rebel review, but otherwise I’ll have my The Once and Future Witches review ready to go, and probably another review too!
Movie Thoughts:
No movie thoughts this week, I’ll likely have some for next time!
Next Week’s TBR Shortlist (Not including SPFBO books):
This week I picked up Iron Widow from the top of my TBR shortlist.

Here’s a link to my last Weekly Roundup, if you wish to compare the two. The book in the top left is The Bone Ship’s Wake by R.J. Barker.
As usual, let me know if there’s anything there you’d recommend!
