2025 Goals
I’m breaking format a little bit this year! For the last two or three years, I’ve split my goals into three categories – general goals, author goals and specific book goals. This past year, while I did fairly well with my goals, I did start to feel the strain of the sheer amount of books meeting my goals would require, versus the amount of books I’ve been reading (keeping in mind that I also do r/fantasy book bingo, which is a further 25 books that may or may not match up to those goals). This year I’m going to loosen it up a bit, and also leave myself an opportunity to re-jig my goals halfway through the year as my priorities change.
Let’s begin.

July and August were not great for reading, so much so that I ended up adding September to this roundup just so I’d have more to say. Progress has been slow in some areas, better in others, but I’m on a bit of a reading roll at the moment which is giving me some hope for the end of the year.

It’s been a decent couple of months of reading for me as I’ve found a new summer reading challenge, and read a good mix of books. Read on to see how I’ve fared.

2024 Goals
As 2024 begins, I like to consider the year ahead, and specifically what I want my reading year to look like.
When it comes to goals there are a few things I consider. Firstly, I want goals that encourage me to read things I wouldn’t otherwise prioritize. On the other hand, it’s also helpful to have goals that remind me to read the things that bring me joy already. Finally, I don’t want the goals to get in the way of me enjoying books. There are no forced reads here – DNFing a book is as much a victory as finishing one, and I’ll never put a book or author on my goals that I don’t think I’ll like.

The final update on how I’ve done with my yearly goals! I’m releasing this a little bit early, as I don’t anticipate achieving any last minute goals this year.
